We werent always drunks we werent always poor we werent always how you see us now were just not like how we were before unspoken for, hitting ground floor we are not heard, nor understood but we...were so much more we are hidden, slumbering away treated like shit in a place where crime doesnt pay We were once people of love people of compassion and respect we were once a great nation now a nation of neglect What have we done? why have we forgotten? who are we now? are we still a great nation or misbegotten? ....we werent always drunks we werent always poor Who are we now? a question I have no answer for....

Im one to keep my peace, letting all step over me one who stands in the corner and says nothing I let em take control in fear that I might mess up from the way I dress to the way I talk im not allowed to show any tears, tears are a sign of weakness "Be tough, stop crying!" Say the voices that surround me am I not allowed to be weak once? Am I not allowed to be me? or am I to obey every demand? Listen always and submit to every command? must I be a slave to my family? Or As you would say "being responsible! " Is it? Taking responsibility?  Or is it my will bein taken from me? while you are free, giving me your responsibility...I stand here poi
